AEROSPACE
FOG TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

The Advanced Aeronautics Manufacturing Centre (CFAA) is a research centre that focuses on promoting innovation and development of aeronautical engines. It collaborates closely with 110 industrial companies to improve the efficiency of machines and processes, optimize part quality, and spearhead technologies that the sector will demand in the future.
Case of successCHALLENGE
Modern manufacturing cannot be conceived without an efficient information management.
CFAA has a research lab that simulates an entire aeronautical pilot plant. Savvy's technology enables them to manage the complete flow of data and information that originates within it.
SOLUTION
Savvy FOG technology is deployed on-premise at the centre, which ensures a greater level of security in data transfer, a key aspect in the aeronautical sector.
CFAA has implemented Savvy technology in virtually every machine, thus enabling automated configuration, collection and management of data from Edge devices. Each machine is connected to a Savvy Edge device over a 5G network, which relays data securely to the locally deployed Savvy FOG system. This infrastructure accelerates digitization, empowers data-driven research, and allows for the development of artificial intelligence models to optimize processes. With this centralization of data, CFAA has greatly improved operational efficiency, and progressed in innovative projects in the aeronautical sector.
RESULTS
Savvy's technology enables CFAA to perform early detection of broach wear, and carry out predictive maintenance, ensuring optimal performance of the machine, while reducing costs related to part replacement.
One of the most relevant success cases lies in a 3-axis vertical broaching machine from Ekin, equipped with a Savvy Edge device. This device manages internal sensor data, CNC and PLC variables, and external sensors such as load cells and accelerometers. Through a 5G network, data is quickly forwarded to Savvy FOG, where advanced AI models process this data to detect broach wear and apply predictive maintenance.
This greatly optimizes machine performance, drives down replacement costs, and augments operational efficiency by anticipating breakdowns of costly and complex tools.
